Principles

Competence and non duplicity

Inspire principles

Data must be generated only once to avoid duplication and must be managed (storage, availability and update) by a competent authority.

It should be possible to combine geographic information from different sources at European level and share it between different users and applications.

The information collected by the competent public authorities should be shared by all public entities, regardless of their hierarchical level, both at the level of detail data and general information for strategic issues.

Geographic information must be managed under conditions that allow its wide use.

It should be easy to find out what geographic information is available, how it can be used to meet a particular need and under what circumstances it can be used and/or acquired.
