Delimitations of the areas of geological interest included in the Inventory of Areas of Geological Interest of Catalonia. The boundaries are not final, they are subject to review, so you need to check for updates to this layer of information.
In order to develop the Article 5 of the Directive, it is necessary to define in advance the basic river network of the demarcation on which the water bodies will be delimited. To do this, the river network extracted from the 1:50,000 scale topographic base of the Cartographic Institute of Catalonia (ICC, 2002) was used. On this basis, some background has been taken into account and some criteria have been applied that have served to establish the definitive scope of the river network. Background: These backgrounds are based on the following three considerations and sources: - Water Framework Directive: the classification of rivers according to system A of the Directive considers rivers with a drainage basin equal to or greater than 10 km2. - Centro de Estudios Hidrográficos del CEDEX: has restricted the basic hydrographic network based on two conditions: (i) drainage basin equal to or greater than 10 km2; and (ii) an average annual contribution in natural regime greater than 3.15 hm3/year (100 L/s). - Reference stations: regardless of the flow and the drained basin area, the river sections where reference stations are used to determine the reference conditions of certain river types have been considered.
Service of visualization of the cartography of soils and additional information to make the maps available in Catalonia.
The WMS Map of hydrogeological areas of Catalonia 1:250 000 is a tool of representation and dissemination of hydrogeological characteristics of the territory and subsoil.
The Directive defines the category "lake" as "a body of quiet superficial inland water " (Article 2) and specifies a lower limit of 0.5 km2 when establishing its rates (Annex II). At the level of Spain and based on preliminary CEDEX criteria, all those lakes with an area of more than 50 ha (0.5 km2) or all those with an area of more than 8 ha and exceeding 3 m in depth are included as bodies of water. The Agency through two agreements with research centers has proposed as bodies of water that could be assimilated to the category of lakes: 1 - Lakes and ponds of more than 0.5 ha of surface located at altitudes above 800 m and lakes below this level with a depth of more than 6 m (agreement with the CEAB-CSIC; Agency, 2003d). 2 - Wetlands located at altitudes below 800 and with a depth of less than 6 m (agreement with the UdG; Agency, 2004d). Also included in this category are the reservoirs of the inland basins of Catalonia.
The Soil Map of Catalonia 1: 250 000 is the result of the synthesis of the edaphological data available at the time of its preparation, in 2018. This process, carried out by the Cartographic and Geological Institute of Catalonia, has consisted of in the compilation, analysis and correlation of the cartographic information obtained in the different soil mapping works that have been executed in Catalonia since the 70's of the last century.
The orthophoto is a cartographic document that consists of a vertical aerial image which has been rectified in such a way that the same scale is kept in the entire surface of the image, being a geometric representation on scale of the terrestrial surface. It is a orthophoto with a resolution of 25 cm generated from images with a pixel resolution variable according to the zones. The color orthophoto (OF-25C) provides information about the visible area of the electromagnetic spectrum. Shows the combination of RGB bands that correspond to the Red, Green and Blue channels, a combination called "natural color".
The Land Cover Map of Catalonia is a information set of high-resolution thematic cartography on the main types of land cover in the country, such as urban areas, agriculture, forestry or water bodies.
The information published on the WMS GT VI: Map for the prevention of geological hazards 1:25 000 comes from the database of map for the prevention of geological hazards 1:25 000.
The WMS geologic map of Catalonia 1:50 000 is a continuous synthesis created from the information contained in geological maps of the MAGNA serie at 1:50000 scale from Instituto Geológico y Minero de España. The set of geological information is referred to BT50M topographic base valid in 1997.
